Curatorial Projects

ANTHOLOGY explores collaborative forms of curating and publishing through a series of exhibitions and events that connect physical spaces with specific books, creating new experiences and artefacts in public space beyond the white cube. After ten editions, the series will culminate in a publication that weaves the connections between spaces and books into a new narrative. The first edition of ANTHOLOGY (#1 MOULD) was realised at Reinraum, Düsseldorf, in June 2024.

Teaching and Mediation

Alongside my artistic practice, I work as a freelance art educator, developing guided tours, workshops and collaborative learning formats for museums, collections, art fairs and schools. My approach connects close observation, dialogue and material experimentation, inviting participants to explore how images produce meaning and how interpretation changes through language, context and hands-on engagement. These questions also inform my artistic research into the transmission of knowledge between bodies, media and materials.

Ongoing Collaborations:

Since 2023 / Museum Abteiberg, Mönchengladbach
Development and delivery of thematic guided tours and workshops for adults.

Since 2023 / Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, K20 / K21, Düsseldorf
Development and delivery of thematic tours of the collections and temporary exhibitions, workshops for all age groups and collaborations with schools. Work in the K21 media workshop, including the development of media-specific educational formats.

Since 2023 / Art Düsseldorf and Art Cologne
Guided tours for VIP guests, museum friends’ associations and the general public.

Selected Projects and Previous Collaborations:

2026 / Dialog und Fotografie, Cooperation with the Cultural Office of the City of Düsseldorf, IJS e.V., Kunstpalast and KIT - Kunst im Tunnel, Düsseldorf
Development and delivery of a photography workshop and subsequent exhibition supporting visual literacy among children and young people from refugee families.

2026 / KUNST+BILDUNG, Kulturforum Alte Post, Neuss
Speaker and panellist on the utopian potential of artistic interventions in schools, in conversation with Fari Shams and Sascha Pohle, moderated by Dr Anne Schülke. Part of the conference KUNST+BILDUNG: Artists in Schools - A Regional Model for Success?, organised by LaB K NRW.

2026 / Kulturkinder e.V., Kunstraum Bickendorf, Cologne
Workshop exploring storytelling through image fragments as part of the Kulturrucksack programme

2025-2026 / Visual Literacies, Cooperation between Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen and Deutscher Jugendfotopreis / Deutsches Kinder- und Jugendfilmzentrum.
Workshop facilitation for a pilot project strengthening visual literacy in schools

2024–2025 / Julia Stoschek Foundation
Workshops for children and young people relating to the collection and temporary exhibitions

2021–2023 / KIT - Kunst im Tunnel, Düsseldorf
Art educator in Meet & Talk, a dialogue-based mediation programme

In her artistic practice, Jessica Tille investigates how information changes meaning as it circulates through different media. The works develop in parallel through language and material, unfolding as spatial systems and physical constellations. They often begin with specific terms, data, temporal processes, material traces or performative actions, which are removed from their original context and transfer into other material or technical systems through processes of notation, archiving, translation and repetition. At these contact zones, the boundaries between poetics and system, the organic and the technical, the analogue and the digital begin to blur.

Language takes on an operative function in her work, as looks for material or semantic tensions in a word and works through it. Terms become tools whose meanings are traced across different fields of knowledge and extend through material. Language is intended not to describe these relationships, but to set operations in motion through which, for example, a technical body becomes a repository for a bodily trace. Research and writing run parallel to the material work. Writing itself generates relationships that continue in material and space, allowing bodies of work to grow further. The book repeatedly becomes a model for spatial organisation: pages, tables of contents, figures or footnotes detach from its binding and continue as spatial structures, while, conversely, places and architectures are read, traversed or divided into chapters like texts. Texts, datasets, images, objects, performance, videos and sound draw on one another, generating versions, repetitions and deviations. One transfer initiates another, and information develops its own material logic as it changes medium. Terms such as playback, dubbing or splitting can thus become linguistic, technical, bodily and spatial operations simultaneously.

Time is one of the quantities that moves through these systems. It can be absent as lost hour, run backwards as countdown, be stored in a body or distributed across the pages of a book. Technical standards and collective knowledge meet bodily perceptions and planetary processes; measuring instruments and interfaces become tools for speculative connections. The body appears within these systems as a time-based biographical medium whose traces are measured, extracted, scaled, stored and fed into other carriers. It becomes a repository, processor or source, while technical systems take on bodily properties: they grow, age, digest, decay, remember or generate doubles. As bodies increasingly become legible and reproducible as data, she is particularly interested in the deviations, translation errors and material residues that resist complete transfer.

The works therefore develop less in a linear manner than through constellations and cycles. Individual works grow into one another through revisiting and mutation. Motifs, materials and figures reappear in altered forms, creating a growing archive across bodies of work that comments on itself. The works thus remain in a state of becoming: as versions of information that circulates through different bodies and media, producing something different with each change.
